Goals
First Season
Our goal, our intentions for the first season was to start off small and learn the needs of the varieties of plants we want to grow as cut flowers. Start from the ground up by building and nurturing the soil. The soil has been tested and we are adding mineral amendments. We sourced local organic compost to add to the gardens. We have started a small blueberry patch. The plan for the future is to have between 275-300 blueberry plants. 2023 the cultivated gardens will encompass .5 acres. Retail management is now in the past. Hopefully together our tiny habitat and our farming skills will grow to be a sustainable, vibrant part of the community.
Second Season
The second season started with the addition of a 12’ x 16’ heated greenhouse for seed sowing and seedling propagation. The season ending with the construction of 20’ x 48’ high tunnel for undercover growing and season extension. High tunnel cultivation is a new adventure for us. There will be lots of trial by error. Hopefully, the learning curve travels in the right direction. The goal is to extend our growing season by 6-8 weeks. Offering blooms for our customers earlier in the spring (mother’s day) and later in the fall into November.
Third Season
The third season saw the completion of the high tunnel with fall plantings of Bell Flowers, Snapdragons, Orlaya, Burpleurum, and a bed of Eucalyptus. These fall plantings will over-winter and when the days reach over 10 hours of sunlight (by the end of February) the plants will slowly waken and begin growing for an early May harvest.
Thanks to Versailles Farm from Greenwich, CT who donated ~45 mature Peony Roots to us to plant during the fall of 2024. We are expecting for the spring of 2025 to be able to harvest our first significant crop of Peony Blooms. We, now, have ~ 150 three and four year old Peony plants. The addition of Peony blooms to our late spring bouquets is unbelievably exciting!
Blueberries
In 2025 we are expecting our first commercial harvest of blueberries from the 4 year old bushes.

January 2025 We have 135 blueberry bushes planted ranging from two to four year old plants. Hopefully, in 2025 the 4 year olds will produce a modest harvest!

Flowers
They are nature’s advertisements, using their beauty to beguile and reward… The beauty of their shapes, colors, and scents transforms us through intimate experiences in our gardens, homes, offices, parks and public spaces, and wildlands.
